Life

Okay, so the last couple of years (thanks, Covid!) have been a real think-fest. Where am I going? Who am I meant to be? You know, the big questions. And one thing I kept coming back to was housing. Let's be real, owning a home in Sydney feels like a pipe dream. I always swore off mortgages, wanting to be a free spirit and all that, but now, it kinda seems like the only option.

But, the bank definitely not going to approve my application anyway, so what other options do I have?

I've always been a bit of a nomad anyway. Moved house a gazillion times. Sharing with friends, partners, then finally my own (rented, obvs) place. Always chasing the cheapest rent – 'cause let's face it, throwing money away on rent feels criminal!

Lockdown 2020? Not much changed for me. I already work from home. Actually, I kind of loved it. More time to catch up, which meant…YouTube binging! And that's when I stumbled upon Van Life.

My friend lives on the road and she showed me how they transformed their empty van to a fully functionally home on wheels. I must admit, I was very impressed. This is when I started thinking on whether I could live this lifestyle. I mean, I already know that I will never be able to afford to buy a house, but do I still want my own house? Or could I see myself living in a nice big van and just traveling to places and not have to stay in the one place for too long. Now, that sounds appealing, I must admit.

The more I watched, the more hooked I got. The big question? How do I take my work with me?!

So, I'm diving in slowly. Gonna hire a van first and see if the reality matches the Instagram dream. Stay tuned!
